MONTFORD POINT MARINES ASSOCIATION CONCERN FOR HAITI
Montford Point Marine Association, Inc., Greetings To All Please inform me ASAP if there are any members of the association with family residing in Haiti, or immediate family of members in general who have suffered or experienced some form of devastation and loss of life caused by this recent major earthquake. The Red Cross estimates 45-50 thousand casualties and possibly 3 million people left homeless; it is reminiscent of the destruction that Katrina caused us here in the US not so long ago. I also wanted to reiterate that The Montford Point Marines is not only an organization, but a family as well; we are here to help and comfort one another in times of need. If you should need to speak with the National Chaplain during this time, Rev. James Moore is always available to you. As an association I’m looking at how we can best support this relief effort and partner with organizations willing to get aid to Haiti. I will be working to provide a list of organizations that I recommend and also a proposal on how we can support the relief effort as a whole. Lastly, I want to remind everyone to be cautious of corruption, fraud and illegal sources portraying to be reputable sources for the Haitian relief effort. Doing the proper research on potential organizations is essential. Please remember to keep those devastated by the earthquake in Haiti in your prayers. Sincerely, James Averhart National President
