The Montford Point Marine Association (MPMA) is a military veteran's organization, founded to memorialize the legacy of the first African Americans to serve in the United States Marine Corps. The first African American Marines were trained at Camp Montford Point, in Jacksonville, North Carolina, from 1942 to 1949.

Membership Criteria
Come join the National Montford Point Marine Association, Inc family. Membership in the Association is open to veterans and active members of all branches of the U. S. Armed Forces regardless of race, creed, or national origin, however the following criteria must be meet.

  • Honorably served in the Armed forces of the United States at least 90 days on active duty
  • Received an honorable discharge at the time of separation.

Membership Types and Fees

There are two types of membership, a life member or an annual member. Lifetime membership fees are based on age. The current fees are as follows:

Lifetime fees are as follows:
29 and below - $500.00
30-39           - $475.00
40-59           - $400.00
60 and above - $350.00


Life membership fees can be paid in a one-time payment, or in installments covering a two-year period with an initial deposit of $100.00 and in an increment payments of $100.00 (This applies to those whom are joining a local chapter). For those whom are electing to be members at large (Life) must pay full life membership as described by age above. Note: If you wish to pay in installments please join a local chapter.


The second type of membership is an annual member. Annual membership expires on 31 August each year with a 15 day grace period for renewal. Annual membership fee consists of a $25.00 payment to National as well as a local chapter fee.


The local chapter membership fee varies for each chapter, therefore please contact the local chapter president or representative for the actual amount.

Notice: All members assigned to a chapter may be required to pay additional monthly fees as deemed and agreed upon by that chapter’s executive by laws. These fees are not a part of membership.

PENDING REVISION For those life time memberships, its a one time payment. All others are yearly subscription payments


Annual Membership Option


Preamble Note: Members at Large, are not permitted to hold an elective office or to vote on Montford Point Marine Association, Inc. policy, a membership application, or an election of officers.

Accepted membership, you solemnly swear or affirm that you will uphold and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States of America and of the Montford Point Marine Association, Inc.

In acceptance of membership, you will never knowingly wrong, deceive or defraud the Montford Point Marine Association, Inc. as to the value of anything.

Members at large will never propose for membership, one known to be unqualified or unworthy to become a member of the  Montford Point Marine Association, Inc.  Members at large further pledge to govern their conduct in the Montford Point Marine Association, Inc., affairs and in their personal life in a manner becoming a decent honorable person and will never knowingly bring discredit to the Montford Point Marine Association, Inc., and the United States of America


Excerpt From the By-Laws

Section (6.6) Chapter Dues
(A) Each Chapter shall fix the amount of their membership dues to be a minimum of $25 per
year. (Amended: August 2015)

(B) Dues for new members shall be renewable upon each consecutive year following the initial
date of their membership application. Dues for existing members shall be due and payable on the
statutory date prescribed each year in the month of September.

(C) Dues for Associate Members shall be set by each chapter.

(D) All Chapter dues are collected both on a Fiscal year basis to ensure date of expiration is in
alignment with the date that the chapter member officially paid their dues as per the date
signed on the member’s National registration form.

(E) The Association year for the purpose of dues shall be from 1 September to 31 August of the
following year. Annual dues shall be Twenty-Five dollars ($25.00), payable when
the application is filed with the National Financial Secretary. This fee shall be returned if the
application is not accepted.

(F) Each member on payment of this fee and being received into the Association shall be mailed a membership card and such other materials as may be provided by the National Officer.

Section (6.7) Reinstatement
When annual dues are not paid by October 30th of the membership year, a reinstatement fee
of two ($2.00) shall become due and payable.
